SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING |
The 5/28/2026 Special Council Work Session was a fact-finding meeting focused on Downtown Clearwater redevelopment activity—especially Cleveland Street between Osceola and Myrtle—where city staff and four invited groups explained who they are, what work is underway, and what “activation” might look like, followed by extensive council Q&A.
This meeting was important because it was explicitly framed as a transparency exercise: council members said they were getting questions from residents about highly visible redevelopment announcements and activity, while information in public circulation was fragmented and sometimes affected by speculation or misinformation.
The work session’s structure reflected that goal—staff first laid out what is actually in the city’s permitting/review pipeline, then invited participants spoke, then council pressed for clarity through questions |
What prompted questions from residents about highly visible redevelopment announcements and activity? |
Let's explore the bold vision led by the Church of Scientology, its parishioners, and the Cleveland Street Alliance to revitalize downtown Clearwater. |

Water Damage Tip: Don’t Ignore Black Spots After a Flood
If a room was flooded and you’re starting to notice a few black spots on the walls, Mold Zero recommends treating it as a warning sign — not something to ignore or simply paint over.
Moisture can hide behind drywall, baseboards, and flooring, and what looks like a small surface issue may point to a bigger problem inside the wall.
Their advice is to stop using the room if possible, avoid touching or disturbing the spots, and call a professional to inspect the area, identify the moisture source, and determine whether mold remediation is needed.
Acting quickly can help protect your home, prevent the damage from spreading, and give your family peace of mind after a flood.
